A magical evening at Stirrups in Evesham

Here’s why Stirrups is the place everyone’s talking about in Worcestershire:

This evening we were back at Stirrups in Evesham, and what a memorable evening it turned out to be. Already known as the place to go for dinner in Evesham and across Worcestershire, Stirrups never fails to deliver on atmosphere, service, and incredible food. But this time, our visit came with an extra touch of magic – literally.

Angus Baskerville at Stirrups

The wildly talented Angus Baskerville was the evening’s entertainment, moving gracefully from table to table and leaving diners in awe with his close-up magic. Watching him perform right in front of us was a delight – sleight of hand, mind-bending tricks, and a charisma that instantly had the whole room captivated. You could feel the excitement ripple around the restaurant as gasps, laughter, and applause followed him wherever he went.

Always a treat

Of course, the food and drink were every bit as impressive. Stirrups’ menu is always a treat, with something to tempt every taste—whether you’re in the mood for hearty favourites, lighter bites, or indulgent desserts. As a vegan diner, I’m always delighted to see such a thoughtful selection of plant-based dishes, and here there’s no feeling of being an afterthought; the vegan options are every bit as creative and satisfying as the rest of the menu.

From starters through to mains and puddings, there’s plenty to enjoy, and it’s clear the kitchen team put real care into every plate. Pair all of that with perfectly poured drinks, super-friendly service, and the buzzing, welcoming atmosphere that Stirrups is known for, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a great night out.

Angus Baskerville: The magician who turned challenges into magic

Angus Baskerville’s story is one of resilience, creativity, and transformation. Growing up in Warwickshire, he faced a turbulent childhood marked by 13 different schools before the age of 15. Undiagnosed Asperger’s and ADHD left him misunderstood and labelled the “naughty kid,” leading to exclusion, bullying, and isolation. It wasn’t until after returning from South Africa that he finally received a diagnosis, offering clarity after years of struggle.

Everything changed when, at 17, he stumbled upon a simple card trick during a holiday. Rather than keeping it as a novelty, Angus became captivated by the mechanics of magic. Practising and performing not only boosted his concentration but also gave him the confidence he had long been searching for. Magic quickly became more than a pastime—it was a lifeline.

Now in his late twenties, Angus is a versatile magician and mentalist performing across the UK and internationally, from New Year’s Eve shows in Australia to festive events in South Africa. His acclaimed one-man show Hidden Powers sold out at the Edinburgh Fringe and earned him a Derek Award.

Beyond entertainment, Angus uses his platform to champion autism, ADHD, and mental health awareness, inspiring others through performances, talks, and workshops. His accolades—including the 2024 Prestige Award and Young Influencer of the Year—reflect not just his skill, but his mission to empower others through magic.
